Medical Waste Disposal
The Board of Health in cooperation with the Burlington Fire Department, has a kiosk available in the lobby of the Burlington Fire Department at 21 Center Street for the free disposal of home sharps (syringes, hypodermic needles, and EpiPens that contain salt).
"Home" sharps do not include those generated by home health aides, visiting nurses, or any other person providing a professional service in a private residence.
All sharps must be placed in puncture resistant quart sized sharps containers. Free sharps containers are available to residents at the Board of Health office at 61 Center Street.
Communicable Disease Surveillance
The Board of Health works with the MA Department of Public Health and our residents in conducting disease surveillance in the Burlington community when notification is provided through the MA Virtual Epidemiologic Network (MAVEN) disease surveillance system that one or more residents have contracted an infectious disease that is reportable by law.
Vaccinations
Free vaccinations for uninsured or under insured children under the Vaccines for Children Program. The Board of Health works very closely with Burlington Public Schools to ensure all students are in compliance with the current MA School Immunizations Requirements.
Free influenza vaccinations are provided yearly to both children and adults. For more information on flu vaccination clinics click here.
