Household Hazardous Waste

  • The Board of Health holds two household hazardous waste collection events per year for Burlington residents. For a list of items to bring click here.

Medical Waste Disposal

  • The Board of Health in cooperation with the Burlington Fire Department, has a kiosk available in the lobby of the Burlington Fire Department at 21 Center Street for the free disposal of home sharps (syringes, hypodermic needles, and EpiPens that contain salt).  
  • "Home" sharps do not include those generated by home health aides, visiting nurses, or any other person providing a professional service in a private residence.
  • All sharps must be placed in puncture resistant quart sized sharps containers. Free sharps containers are available to residents at the Board of Health office at 61 Center Street.

Vaccinations

  • Free vaccinations for uninsured or under insured children under the Vaccines for Children Program. The Board of Health works very closely with Burlington Public Schools to ensure all students are in compliance with the current MA School Immunizations Requirements.  
  • Free influenza vaccinations are provided yearly to both children and adults.  For more information on flu vaccination clinics click here.
