Payment Methods

Payment of Real Estate, Personal Property, and Motor Vehicle Excise tax bills and payment of Water and Sewer bills are accepted in the following manners: 

ON-LINE PAYMENT:

  • Use our secure payment portal Invoice Cloud.   
  • Please note: payments made with credit/debit cards, PayPal and Venmo will incur a convenience fee of 2.99% (minimum $2.95).  Payments made with EFT(check) will incur a convenience fee of $0.40
  • You may make one-time payments using Invoice Cloud even if you chose not to register or login as a user.  

TOWN HALL DROP BOX: 

  • Located at Town Hall, 29 Center Street, Burlington MA, at the top of the steps to the left of the front door.    
  • Handicap accessible drop boxes are located next to the side doors of the building.                             
  • Available 24 hours a day, however mail is only retrieved during regular Town Hall business hours. 
  • Make check payable to Town of Burlington.  Do not enclose cash
  • Enclose the remit copy of the bill with payment to ensure proper credit. Your cancelled check is your receipt. 
  • If you require a stamped receipt, include a self-addressed stamped envelope and both the remit and customer copy of the bill along with your check.

  BY MAIL:

  • Make check payable to Town of Burlington.  Do not mail cash.
  • Enclose the remit copy of the bill with payment to ensure proper credit. Your cancelled check is your receipt. 
  • If you require a stamped receipt, include a self-addressed stamped envelope and both the remit and customer copy of the bill along with your check. 
  • Payments are considered made when received by the Collector’s office.  Please allow sufficient mailing time to avoid any interest or penalty for late payments. 

 IN PERSON: 

  • Tax Office/Collector's window located on the first floor of Town Hall, 29 Center Street, Burlington MA.   Payments accepted during regular business hours  M, T, Th: 8:30 am to 4:30 pm,  W: 8:30 am to 7:00 pm,   F: 8:30 am to 1:00 pm

ON-LINE PAYMENTS THROUGH YOUR BANK

  • Use your banks “On-Line” or “Bill Pay” features.
  • Please note your current bill number on the check for the payment to be properly applied.  Bill numbers change annually and incorrect information will delay your payment. 
  • Please be sure the mailing address is updated. The correct address can be found on the bill itself, or on the enclosed payment envelope.
  • PLEASE NOTE:    when using your bank's on-line bill pay an actual check is mailed, the funds are not transferred electronically. It may take up to 10 days for the Collector’s office to receive the check.  Please allow sufficient time to avoid any interest or penalty for late payments. 
  • Payments are considered made when received by the Collector’s office.
